Why the turkey trot?

The Delaware Turkey Trot is hosted by New Beginnings Church.

New Beginnings Church is committed to making the community a better place. What started as a passion from members of our church, combined with a passion to support the autism community from other members of our church, the Delaware Turkey Trot was born.

We at New Beginnings want to partner with those in the community to give back. We know that many people in our area enjoy athletics, so we wanted to host a 5k. But this is not your ordinary 5k; we give 100% of the proceeds away each year.

The Cause

Each year 100% of the proceeds go to the Autism Society Central Ohio. They are an organization that is committed to helping those in our community and the surrounding areas. To learn more about the Autism Society check out their website: autismcentralohio.org

Autism Society Central Ohio (ASCO) is a grassroots organization for individuals and families affected by autism in Central Ohio. We offer current information, advocacy, resources, referrals and support for individuals and families. ASCO is a dynamic affiliate open to anyone who is touched by Autism and there is no cost to enjoy these benefits!

ASCO delights in offering family friendly, “no judgment” events including, personalized visits with Santa; Trick or Suites at Embassy Suites; yoga classes; family portraits; evenings at an indoor trampoline park; Night at the Museum at the Ohio History Connection; a morning with butterflies at the Franklin Park Conservatory; outdoor activities; and more.

Coffee, Tea & Autism is a new style of support group led by volunteers whose lives have been touched by autism. Sometimes the best support and information comes from others living the same journey. Annually, we offer a Mom’s Night Out to pamper and Dads get a Night out to connect with other dads. ASCO offers families and professionals educational opportunities to learn about autism on a local, state and national level. ASCO’s most important benefit is the opportunity to talk with other parents and professionals - to share information and to realize that you are not alone in this journey.

Over the last 10 years we have donated nearly $195,000 to the Autism Society of Central Ohio.
